Tell us a bit about Pulaski County, Virginia.
Among the mountains, lakes, rivers, and trails of Southwest Virginia rests the beautiful Pulaski County. Established in 1839, the 330 square miles are home to rich history and natural beauty that are prime for exploration and recreation, including two state parks. Together, Claytor Lake State Park and New River Trail State Park offer something to interest all outdoor enthusiasts, from watersports and fishing to hiking and biking. While Pulaski County is a great hub for outdoor activity, there are many opportunities to relish local culture and heritage. Escape for a day and savor local wines at one of the three county wineries. Encounter historic Draper or explore the local museums and art centers. Enjoy a game at historic Calfee Park—one of the oldest minor league baseball parks in the United States. However you choose to immerse yourself, there will be much to discover in Pulaski County.

What do you hope to accomplish with this new passport?
The primary goal of the new passport program is to motivate individuals to discover and engage with Pulaski County’s diverse attractions. By collecting stamps at different locations, participants not only enjoy memorable experiences but also have the opportunity to earn prizes, thereby enhancing their connection to the community and promoting local tourism.
In addition to encouraging exploration, we hope the passport helps support our small businesses by driving more foot traffic to locally owned shops, restaurants, and attractions. It’s also a great way to draw in visitors from outside the county, inviting them to experience the beauty, charm, and hospitality that make Pulaski County so special. Ultimately, the passport is a fun and rewarding tool that builds community pride while boosting economic impact across the region.
