WNC Cheese Trail launches digital passports with LoyalBrew

We are excited to announce the launch of the Western North Caroline Cheese Trail on LoyalBrew!

The WNC Cheese Trail is located in North Carolina, now offering two LoyalBrew passports. One passport was created in support of the 11 cheese makers, and the other for their 28 pairing partners. We spoke with Carolyn Kinneen and Carolyn Frykberg of the WNC Cheese Trail about the creation of the trail and the cant-miss events happening in 2022!

What sparked the creation of the Western North Carolina Cheese Trail?

Jennifer Perkins from Looking Glass Creamery and Katie Moore from the Barn Door Cider Works got together and started the Western North Carolina Cheese Trail in 2012 with some of our other cheesemakers. They had been looking at successful regional cheese trails and thought Western North Carolina needed one because of all the amazing cheeses and makers!

Tell us a little more about the can’t-miss cheesemakers and pairing partners you recommend trying while exploring the WNC Cheese Trail?

We can’t pick a favorite – but because it’s so large you should start in the region you are near and enjoy all that our local cheesemakers and partners have to offer!

You must be looking forward to hosting events once again after COVID canceled the WNC Cheese Trail events in 2020-21. Can you tell us a little more about a few of the events scheduled for 2022?

To find out about all of our cheesemakers and partners’ events sign up at www.wnccheesetrail.org. Mountain Cheesefest is on September 25, 2022, at Oak and Grist. Stay tuned for more information. Ticket sales should start in early summer.

You are using LoyalBrew to launch your WNC Cheese Trail passport program. What do you hope to accomplish with it?

We want to let cheese lovers know about our amazing makers and our member partners. We wanted to give our cheese lovers a place to interact and connect more with their cheesemakers and the small businesses who support them.
